Student Assistants Internship Positions
Kenya Education Network Trust (KENET) is a National Research and Education Network that promotes the use of ICT in teaching, learning and research in higher education institutions in Kenya( see http://www.kenet.or.ke for further details).
In August 2008 KENET received a Ford Foundation grant to develop instructional design capacity at KENET for the benefit of all member institutions. This will support universities that are developing innovative multimedia teaching materials, including hosted e-learning content. The grant will advance the KENET’s strategy of developing locally relevant content.
The two-year grant was awarded jointly with Kenyatta University and Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) and is aimed at increasing access to university education of girls in the Marsabit area using ICT and traditional open learning centers. KENET will initially work closely with faculty in the School of Education, Kenyatta University to develop multimedia content that would be loaded onto the cheap laptops and also on DVDs and e-learning platforms (e.g., Moodle).
Position
The student Assistants will assist the Kenyatta University lecturers in developing the multimedia content. They will be based at the Kenyatta University for the duration of the development of the interactive multimedia content.
Qualifications and Skills
Interested candidates should meet the following criteria:
Be an undergraduate in fourth year or a fresh graduate in BSC Computer Science/IT/Educational Technology or any other related field.
Be available for a weeks training from Monday 23rd February 2009
Must be good with basic computer skills and be ready to learn more.
Hard working and Self-driven - can work with minimum supervision
