With support from the National Science Foundation (NSF), The National Aeronautic and Space Administration (NASA)  and The Ellis Trust, we are pleased to announce The International Conference on ICT for Africa 2010. The International Conference on ICT for Africa 2010 (ICIA 2010) is themed 'ICT for Development - Contributions of the South'.

The conference and exhibition will take place MARCH 25-28, 2010 in YAOUNDE, CAMEROON (West Africa). Beyond just the typical Academic conference, ICIA 2010 will have a strong blend of academic and practitioner audiences as well as top policy makers from many developing and developed nations. Further, there will be a several exciting workshops including telemedicine, e-learning, grant writing and ICT policy. There will be real-world (life) illustrations  of telemedicine and e-learning systems targeted for low-resource settings of developing and developed nations.

The conference seeks to address a number of questions. What role can we play in the information age? Is Africa  going to be only consumers of the information age or can Africa join the producers of ICT knowledge, products  and services? What could be emergent patterns of ICT knowledge transfer in development? Is there an opportunity  for unique contribution from Africa in this information age?

If there is, then let us tell the story of what we have in this conference. This conference will bring together a fine mix of practitioners and academicians in the area of ICTs for  sustainable development. ICIA 2010 creates a forum where participants can disseminate their research on the transfer, diffusion,  and adoption of ICT within the context of Africa; the innovation and development of ICT solutions for  and within this context; impacts of ICT on society and of society on ICT; and other relevant normative,  empirical, and theoretical concerns of ICT development, implementation, strategy, management and policy  that are distinctive to Africa and associated developing economies.
