Generic Accession Roadmaps Workshop in Mombasa November 5-6th 2009
KENET held a well attended workshop in Mombasa on the 5and 6 the November 2009 at Serena Beach Hotel and spa in Mombasa. The workshop attracted total of 30 Vice Chancellors or their Deputy Vice Chancellor representatives, 24 ICT Directors, and representatives from the research institutes that are members of KENET, the CEO for the Commission for Higher education attended the forum. During the workshop and discussed the generic accession roadmaps were discussed in details by the various stakeholders.
Launch of E –readiness survey results in Uganda October 13, 2009 Serena Hotel, Kampala
The launch of 2008 e- readiness survey and the dissemination of the findings was held on October 13, 2009 at Serena Hotel, Kampala Uganda. The meeting was well attended by all of the 11 universities included in the survey. The participants included the representatives of Vice Chancellors of all the 11 universities, ICT directors or managers of Ugandan universities and other senior government officials. The Minister for Information and Communication technology, Hon. Aggrey Awori opened the workshop and launched the report.
Tanzania Universities’ Vice-Chancellors’ Forum October 21, 2009
The results were launched in Tanzania on October 20, 2009 at a Vice Chancellors’ forum held in Morogoro, United Republic Tanzania. This was part of a meeting of Tanzanian Vice Chancellors with the Tanzanian Commission for Universities. In addition, the results were also presented at an Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) symposium held on October 28, 2009 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Launch of EA e-readiness report and accession report in Rwanda, Kigali November
The launch for the Rwanda universities was held on November 25, 2009 at Kigali Rwanda. It was attended by all the rectors or representative of the seven universities surveyed, other rectors that are members of the governing board of RwedNet, the Rwandan Research and education Network. Most of the ICT directors of the Rwandan universities also attended the launch and dissemination workshop. The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education opened the workshop and launched the report in Rwanda. The researchers were able to select the two universities that will participate in the development of institutional accession roadmaps.
