Kenya Education Network (KENET) is a National Research and Education Network that promotes the use of ICT in Teaching, Learning and Research in Higher Education Institutions in Kenya.
KENET aims to interconnect all the Universities, Tertiary and Research Institutions in Kenya by setting up a cost effective and sustainable private network with high speed access to the global Internet.
KENET also facilitates electronic communication among students and faculties in member institutions, share learning and teaching resources by collaboration in Research and Development of Educational content.

KENET held a three day vice chancellors, principals and ICT directors forum on November 3rd to 6th 2010 at the Serena Beach Hotel and Spa, Mombasa. The three days event focused on:-
- Updating members on the KENET network infrastructure.
- Giving a status report on the KENET Network Operations, services and applications.
- Discussing the KENET strategic plan (2007-2010) and the future of KENET as an African NREN
- Giving an update on the KENET members demographics and Network Access ICT readiness indicators
- Giving an overview of the KENET broadband network infrastructure funding and support by Government of Kenya
There were keynote speeches by:-
- Prof. Crispus Kiamba, PS Higher Education, Science and Technology - Integration of ICT readiness indicators in performance and quality targets for Kenyan universities and research institutions
- Prof. Nelson Ijumba, DVC, research, University of Kwazulu Natal - Research infrastructure at Kwazulu Natal – What have we learned about the institutional and Global research agenda.
- Prof. Francis Tusubira, CEO, UbuntuNet Alliance - Development of African Research and Education Networks (NRENs) and the EU-funded AfricaConnect Project Update – Role of KENET
ICT had the opportunity to visit SEACOM undersea fiber landing stations in Mombasa on Wednesday November 3, 2010.
