ICT Forums and Student Internships
KENET offers internships to at least three university students every three months. It also works with student bodies and universities to organize or support student ICT forums. For example, during the UN IGF Forum in October 2011, KENET organized a forum attended by over 200 University students that was addressed by Professor Vint Cerf, the father of the Internet.

KENET has also in the past organized forums for Kenyan University faculty and the inventor of the World Wide Web Sir Prof. Tim Berners-Lee at Serena Hotel on 20th November 2008. In attendance were over fifty faculty and student representatives from different Kenyan Universities which included Moi, Baraton, Egerton, University of Nairobi, Kenyatta University, United States International University, and Strathmore University among Others. The breakfast was kindly sponsored by the Kenya ICT Board.
Sir Tim introduced his new foundation (http://www.webfoundation.org) that aims to ensure that the web is used by the 80% of humanity that does not yet have access. He also introduced the new multi-disciplinary area of research that the foundation is promoting called Web Science research (see http://www.w3.org/2009/Talks)

ICT Directors’ Forum
Every year, KENET organizes an ICT director’s forum that discusses both commercial and technical matters that affect the operations of a national education network. The forums also allow experienced university ICT directors to help newer and younger ICT directors. This year, the forum will be attended by over 60 ICT directors from different universities and university colleges as part of the pre-conference activities of UbuntuNet Connect 2011 conference.

Annual Vice Chancellors Forum
In addition to the ICT directors’ forum, KENET organizes an annual Vice Chancellors’ that discusses ICT leadership and financing matters in a private and open environment. The idea is to show that ICT is a proxy to the quality of higher education and is an essential component of the learning environment of modern universities. Through these forums, there has been significant improvement in ICT usage in Kenyan universities.
