Kenya Education Network (KENET) is a National Research and Education Network that promotes the use of ICT in Teaching, Learning and Research in Higher Education Institutions in Kenya.
KENET aims to interconnect all the Universities, Tertiary and Research Institutions in Kenya by setting up a cost effective and sustainable private network with high speed access to the global Internet.
KENET also facilitates electronic communication among students and faculties in member institutions, share learning and teaching resources by collaboration in Research and Development of Educational content.

i) VPN Services
Our clients need a way to access University based resources once they are out of their respective universities. Some of these resources include:

University based Library resources (eg online catalogs)
-
Online journals subscribed to by the Universities (eg JSTOR)

Shared directories within the Universities (software stores, repositories, lecturer notes, etc.)
ii) Co-location
KENET is partnering with Google, KNEC and KENIC to provide a DNS hosting service for 32,000 schools. This is to allow each school to have its own unique domain name (e.g. school.sc.ke). As such, Google provided KENET with 15 servers at no cost to provide this service among other services (E-learning hosting, Software storage among others).
iii) Training
KENET has a training room facility at the University of Nairobi Library with more than 40 seat capacity. KENET aspires to tap into its partner base in trainings and use the skills and experience of engineers from the US and or Germany to facilitate trainings. Topics to be offered include:

iii) E-learning hosting
