Phil Regnauld a Network Engineer and Trainer for the Network Startup Resource Center (NSRC) has been working closely with a team of KENET Engineers on various technical aspects of service delivery to the KENET community since January 2015.
Mr. Regnauld and the KENET Team have been mainly working on setting up a new virtualization platform. The platform will enable KENET to have a unified virtualization platform that is able to scale and meet the demands of a growing National Research and Education Network (NREN) and the growing demands of virtual infrastructure from the KENET Community. Currently KENET is running a number of virtualization platforms but one unified virtualization platform where the entire virtual infrastructure would be hosted is required. This will ease the provisioning and management of virtual machines and also be a stepping stone for KENET in the road to providing Cloud Services to its members.
The team has also been able to test the implementation of Anycast Domain Name System (DNS). Anycast DNS is a powerful solution that accelerates the traditional functioning of DNS servers, providing faster response times during the initial hits to your websites, from anywhere in the world.
KENET wishes to thank Mr. Regnauld for collaborating with our engineers and for the invaluable help he has given towards improving service delivery to our members.
