KENET Capacity Building Calendar 2015
The KENET 2015 training calendar is out. This year, KENET plans to hold four (4) residential courses for the purpose of strengthening our member institutions technical capacity in both academic and research areas. The calendar and full details of the planned courses can be downloaded from the KENET website or by clicking on the link (http://training.kenet.or.ke/index.php?title=Main_Page).
The first course for 2015 is the Scalable Campus Network Training which will be held in the week of April 13th to 17th, 2015. The nomination of trainees is on-going with the deadline for submission being Friday, 6th March, 2015. Nominations can be sent to Maureen Njue (mnjue@kenet.or.ke) or Nelisa Mwongera (nmwongera@kenet.or.ke).

Scalable Campus Network |

Scalable Campus Network Course is an advanced course on Switching and Routing concepts designed for experienced technical staff that operates a TCP/IP network. This course requires practical knowledge of IPv4 addressing and general network concepts, proficiency in UNIX and/or Linux and Two to Three years’ experience as Network Engineers/Administrators in a medium to large campus network. |

Network Management and Monitoring/ |

Bandwidth management and optimization course (BMO) is designed to provide necessary skills of managing and monitoring bandwidth usage on the campus network. The course will provide skills of bandwidth management principles within a campus environment and development and implementation of bandwidth policies. The training will also provide participants with skills to troubleshoot common campus network problems and how to install and manage network monitoring tools. |

Cyber Security |

Note
The class shall have a maximum number of 25 participants per course. The duration of each course shall be 5 days at a cost of $1,200 per participant per course (residential for up to 6 nights). The following criteria shall be used:

Applicants shall be Network or Systems Administrators/Engineers with at least 1 year experience at a member institution. Entry-level ICT staff shall not be eligible

Applicants MUST submit a brief CV (2 pages) with a portfolio of relevant projects or work experience

Applicants from financially needy institutions shall be eligible for sponsorship by KENET partners.

Applicants must submit a detailed network diagram of their campuses, clearly identifying the areas of need

Applicants from institutions that sent trainees to similar courses in 2014 shall be given priority. However, applicants who attended a similar course in 2014 shall not be eligible
