Mrs Irene Nyakweba is the University Librarian at Kisii University, prior to her appointment at the university, she lectured at Narok University College, currently Masaai Mara University. She has also served as a part time lecturer at; Maseno University, Kenya College of Accountancy (KCA), Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Kabianga University and Rongo University. Alongside the above, she also managed Kenya Highland Bible College and University of Nairobi, Kisumu Extra mural Centre as head of the library.

She holds Masters in Library and Information Science, Bachelors in library and information science and Bachelors in commerce from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University in India. She also holds a Diploma in computer application and programing.

Irene is a specialist in; Management Information Systems, Services and Programs, Information Processing and Organization and Library Planning and Management.
