Prof. Victoria Wambui Ngumi, PhD
Vice Chancellor, Prof.Victoria Wambui Ngumi is a fulbright scholar who holds a Bed(Sc) Hons, Msc (Botany) PhD (Plant Physiology) and EMBA degrees.She has chaired various important Committes in the University including the Committee which organized the JKUAT 20th Anniversary celebrations. She has climbed through all administrative ranks at JKUAT having been founding Chairperson Biological Sciences department, Chairperson department of Botany, Director Alternative Degree Programmes (APD), founding Principal, Karen Campus, first Deputy Vice Chancellor(Administration) and currently Vice Chancellor, JKUAT.
She has developed various academic programs at Bachelors and Masters degree levels and has supervised Masters and PhD degree students and is widely published in her area of specialization.Her career objectives are to build capacity through teaching and research in her area of Plant Physiology, Plant culture and Conservation Botany as a contribution towards conservation of our rich ecosystems and environment. Having attained the highest University Management position of Vice Chancellor she will use her long experience in university administration to achieve her Mission and Vision and serve God in whatever position He wills her to serve.
Her achievements include being the first/founding Principal, started and Established JKUAT Karen Campus. She was the first founding Deputy Vice Chancellor(Administration),stated and reorganized the division of Administration with a strong HR department among others after it broke away from the Division of Administration Planning and Development. As the second Director alternative degree programmes she re-organise the Alternative degree programmes office into functional sections. As Chairperson Department of Botany, she started the MSc Botany Programme and also coordinated the writing of BSc Medical microbiology, BSc Biotechnology (Plant Biotechnology Option), BSc Crop Protection and Bridging Course in Biology.
She won the Fulbright Scholarship for PhD studies at Clemson University, South Carolina , USA , she was the Chairperson of biological Sciences, started and established the Department of Biological Sciences and also won the Monbusha scholarship for Msc studies in Hiroshime University(Japan).Senior Education Fellow at ANAFE in charge of East and Central Africa.
