KENET has developed online courses to equip the KENET Community with relevant skills. These are online self-paced courses currently being offered by KENET at NO COST to its members. All the participants will require to undertake the courses are a laptop and Internet connection and a commitment to complete the course.
The courses are as follows:
Kenya Education Network (KENET), the National Research and Education Network (NREN) of Kenya, today announced it has signed an agreement with Atlancis Technologies Limited, Africa’s first Open OEM, to deploy Africa’s first true multi-vendor compatible Enterprise Wi-Fi network based on the Telecom Infra Project’s (TIP) OpenWiFi solution.
The KENET web conference platform runs on BigBlueButton open-source software and supports real-time sharing of audio, video, slides (with whiteboard controls), chat, and the screen. The platform is interactive as it allows instructors to engage remotely with students using polls, emojis, multi-user whiteboard, and breakout rooms. The platform can also be used for group collaboration and remote teaching. KENET is currently offering this service to its members at no additional cost.
Both online and blended teaching require creative and flexible thinking about how instructors can support students in achieving essential core course learning objectives. Instructors may choose to engage their students synchronously or asynchronously depending on the course content or material that needs to be taught.

Moodle is one of the worldwide used open-source learning management platforms and is currently being used by various learning institutions in Kenya. The currently available release for Moodle is 3.11 with Moodle 4 being expected in December 2021. It is important to ensure that you are running the latest version of Moodle due to the following reasons:
