On April 13th-17st KENET held Scalable Campus Network Training residential hands-on course. The training is an advanced course for experienced network engineers and administrators. We had over 23 trainees from; Public Universities, Private Universities, and Constituent University Colleges.
The training was geared to equip the trainees with the skills to design and build scalable networks within their institutions which would ultimately lead to the network users experiencing better browsing experiences.
The course was sponsored by KENET and was conducted by KENET senior engineers. The trainees had a chance to use new state-of-the art network engineering laboratory setup to gain necessary skills to administer large scale campus networks. Some of the course that were covered include; Introduction to Network Management, Network Monitoring Tools, Campus Network, Design principles and best practices, Campus Network Structured Cabling, Campus Network, Designs Round-table, Research Infrastructure, Cisco configuration essentials, HP Configuration essentials, and Cyber Security.
The training was organized on a Training of Trainers format with the expectation that the trainees will train other technical staff on their campus and nearby neighbouring institutions.
