KENET Staff Attends the Africa Internet Summit In Tunisia

Anne Inapat, a graduate trainee at KENET was awarded a sponsorship by Google to attend the Africa Internet Summit (AIS) workshop in Tunis, Tunisia from 24th May to 5th June 2015.
The summit was a multi-stakeholder event combining workshops, conferences and networking for the Internet Industry. The summit was attended by network and system administrators from all over Africa and other key stakeholders such as; African Network Operators' Group (AFNOG), the Internet Registry for Africa (AFRINIC), Africa Research and Education Networks (AfREN), African Forum of Computer incidence Response Teams (AfricaCERT), African Top Level Domains (AfTLD), Advanced Registry Operation Course (AROC), Internet Society (ISOC) Africa, African Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (AfriCANN), AFRINIC Government Working Group (AfGWG) among others.
At the summit, Ms. Inapat attended; the Scalable network Infrastructure AFNOG track which included a hands on training on skills required for the configuration and operation of large scale networks connected to the internet, a tutorial on IPv6, the AFREN Meeting where some NRENs made presentations on their networks and Regional NRENS discussed various projects. ISOC also made a presentation during the meeting. In addition, the latest innovations and Best practices in the Internet Industry were also shared during the summit.

I gained immense knowledge and experience in varied aspects such as; OSPF, interior BGP, and Exterior BGP (for peering and transiting); Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) and IPv6 to mention but a few. These skills will enable me improve KENET’ performance and also to progress in my career as a Network engineer” said Ms. Inapat.
