KENET held half-day joint meeting for the Special Interest Groups in Engineering Education and Education Technology on July 15, 2015 at the KENET boardroom. The meeting was also attended by the Raspberry Pi grantees.
Prof. Kashorda, KENET Executive Director made a presentation on a baseline survey of Engineering and ICT departments in Universities across the country. He highlighted the research opportunities for higher education institutions, low enrollment for postgraduate engineering and ICT Students courses, capacity development for ICT lecturers and the mission and vision statements for Kenyan universities among other issues.The participants were urged to use such forums to establish solutions for various education issues such as the low enrollment.
At the meeting, the attendees took note of some of the achievements made from the Raspberry Pi projects such as the fast students’ uptake of the Raspberry Pi application and enhancement of teaching and demonstration of engineering concepts using Raspberry Pi applications. Meru University of Science and Technology was able to showcase their different projects using the Raspberry Pi at the Commission for University Education Exhibition, Meru Agricultural Show, NACOSTI National Science Week and at the Meru International Investment Conference.
