Training on Vidyo Video Conference System
KENET in collaboration with TENET, the National Research and Education Network for South Africa has deployed a Vidyo video conferencing system for its member institutions. The use of this system enables low cost scalable multipoint video communication to; desktops, mobile phones and room system end points across general purpose IP networks. It also supports other legacy devices such as Polycom and CISCO Video Conference systems.
Two Engineers; Craig Watson from Vidyo and Rob Bristow from TENET spent two days at KENET training technical teams on the vidyo technology. A technical training that targeted KENET engineers was conducted on Wednesday 15th July 2015 with an aim of familiarizing the KENET team with the technology and its implementation. An additional training for technical teams from various KENET member institutions was held on 17th July 2015 in which participants were trained on how to use the Vidyo system and how to offer technical assistance to researchers using the system. In addition to the trainings, a test vidyo call with participation of researchers, ICT directors and technicians from different universities was also conducted.
At KENET, we are excited to introduce this video conference solution for researchers in our member institutions. Additionally, to enhance our service delivery, KENET is set to launch yet another new technology, ‘The Web Conference Solution’ in the near future!!!
