KENET had the privilege of hosting Mr. Epaphras Matsangaise, a network engineer from the Global Research Network Operations Center (GlobalNOC) at Indiana University (IU). Mr. Matsangaise came to KENET as part of an Engineering Exchange between KENET and Indiana University.
During the course of his 10 days visit, Matsangaise interacted closely with KENET engineers with the aim of identifying areas of collaboration in network design and operations between IU Global NOC and KENET.
In addition to interacting with KENET staff, Matsangaise also visited one KENET member institution, KCA University, Kitengela Campus in the hope of learning how KENET interacts with the members it serves and how KENET solves technical issues experienced by member institutions.
“I am inspired by how well KENET staff know their network; there is no excuse for me not to know my network that well. I hope to improve on that when I go back to the Global NOC” Matsangaise said.
He expressed that although he acquired a lot of useful technical information during his visit, the personal relations made at KENET were the highlight of his trip. “When I get back to Global NOC I will research more on National Research and Education Networks (NRENS) in Africa and see how I can help them advance their agenda”.
