2016 Training Calendar for the KENET Member Institutions
The KENET 2016 training calendar is out. This year, KENET plans to hold two (2) residential courses for the purpose of strengthening our member institutions technical capacity in both academic and research areas. We invite you to nominate one of your experienced network administrators for the Advanced Scalable Campus Networks residential course to be held on April 4-8, 2016 in Nairobi. This is a fully sponsored course with Google contributing 90% of the costs and KENET 10%. We would appreciate if you could send your e-mail nomination via e-mail to Mrs. Maureen Wanja Musau (mnjue@kenet.or.ke) with a copy to Luke Matere (lmatere@kenet.or.ke ) by March 9, 2016.

Network Management course is and advanced course for those managing a diverse campus network and NOC operations. |
Senior Network Engineers /Administrator and Systems Administrators. More than Three (3) years’ experience |
Prerequisites:

A laptop with wireless capability

IPV4 addressing and TCP/IP conceps

Knowledge of UNIX/Linux (must have undertaken the ISOC Introduction to Network Operations or equivalent) If you have not undertaken the course you can email Mrs. Maureen Musau mnjue@kenet.or.ke to undertake the course.
The following shall be the selection criteria that we shall use for each nominee For the Avanced Scalable Campus Network Training Course
- Should be Senior Network Administrators/Engineers or equivalent with at least 3 year experience at one or member institution(s).
- Must have attended the previous Scalable Campus Network Training (or has equivalent of CCNA Routing and Switching certification)
- Must show proof of projects they have implemented successfully on campus (Provide a portfolio of evidence).
- Must be proficient in UNIX / LINUX operating system (e.g., have ISOC UNIX certification or LINUX certification or evidence of proficiency by the time of nomination).
- Must submit a brief CV (2-page) with a portfolio of relevant projects or work experience (attach a copy of passport photo)
- Willing to be a Trainer of trainers and support nominating institution or other KENET member institutions (send a statement of commitment to be a Trainer of Trainers).
- New ICT Directors/Managers can apply if they demonstrate to have necessary skills and experience as network administrators.
We have only 23 slots (23 different institutions) and the deadline for submission shall be March 9, 2016 (11.59 PM).
