The Internet Society (ISOC) has developed an online introductory course on network operations. So far over 75 participants have successfully completed the online course. The Introduction to network operations course is a prerequisite to attend the KENET trainings. Kindly refer to the 2016 training calendar to see the available courses.
The course is divided into the following nine modules that can be taken over a period of one week or over 1 month if done part-time.
1.Module 1a-Introduction to Unix, Linux and Virtualization
2.Module 1b-FreeBSD Installation
3.Module 2–Networking Overview (IPv4 and IPv6)
4.Module 3–How to install 3rd party software
5.Module 4-Working with theUnix/Linux Shell
6.Module 5-Editing with ViM
7.Module 6-Introduction to Shell Scripting
8.Module 7a-DNS Fundamentals
9.Module 7b–The Domain Name System (DNS)
Kindly note you are expected to complete the course within one month. To successfully complete the course you will need a laptop/desktop and dedicated time everyday. Atleast 2 hours everyday if you have a busy work schedule. Please note that the course is a free service to KENET members. The University Students are also encouraged to register for the course.
