KENET is partnering with selected universities for the remote teaching pilot project. These universities include Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA), Daystar University, and University of Nairobi with KENET as the implementation partner and project funder.
KENET is funding the projects at a total cost of about KES 9 million for equipping the classrooms (microphones, cameras, projection screens) and another KES 9 million for backend virtual servers and associated storage for the web conferencing system, capacity building for technical staff and lecturers, and technical support for one year.
State of the art web conference teaching rooms will be setup in at least two sites in each of the participating universities.
At the end of the pilot phase, KENET and the participating universities shall prepare a detailed internal report that shall include detailed cost-benefit analysis of the remote teaching pilot study, with specific recommendation for senior leadership of the universities on the outcome of the pilot study in educational and commercial terms.
