2017 University ICT Directors' Forum
The Annual University ICT Directors’ Forum took place on the 6th and 7th April 2017 at Enashipai Resort and Spa, Naivasha with 67 participants in attendance. The theme of the forum was, “Communicating the Value of ICT services to the University Community”.
The key note speaker was Dr. Sam Bosire, Chief Information Officer, Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University and Director, TENET, South Africa. He gave a key note address on, “The Relationship between the CIO and VC in South African Universities – the Challenges of Communicating value of IT to the VC and senior leadership”. 67 participants attended the forums opening session on 6th April and 66 participants were in attendance on 7th April, 2017.
Topics covered during the forum include; The Role of the ICT Director in Institutional Change at a Public University in the period 2012-2016 – the case of Kenyatta University, Financing campus ICT Infrastructure Investments –the case of Moi University and Supporting Teaching and Learning with Technology Initiatives in a University. The presentations, “The role of the ICT Director in Institutional Change at a Public University in the period 2012 -2016 –the case of Kenyatta University” and “The Relationship between the CIO and VC in South African Universities – the Challenges of Communicating value of IT to the VC and senior leadership” respectively were felt to have had the biggest impact on the participants.
