Eight (8) researchers from public and private universities namely University of Nairobi, Maseno University, The Cooperative University of Kenya, Machakos University and African Nazarene University benefitted from the KENET travel grants to attend the Distance Education and Teachers’ Training in Africa Conference. KENET conducted a four (4) day in-person training for TVET Systems Administrators from October 16-19, 2023, at the KENET Training room. The training which was attended by 23 participants from 17 institutions focused on mastering Unix/Linux administration through a practical and hands-on approach. The course covered all aspects on Linux/Unix System administration including an introduction to Linux system administration, familiarization with the Unix and Linux shell scripts, command line tools and user management.

The Annual ICT Directors Forum for Tertiary Colleges was held in Nairobi between August 31 - September 1, 2023. The One and half-day - in person event was attended by ICT Directors from Tertiary Colleges or their representatives, Trainers and invited guests with 80 participants. The theme of the forum was , "Readiness for digitalization of tertiary colleges".

One of key roles of KENET as an organization is to catalyze collaboration in research and education among member institutions. KENET promotes collaboration through the facilitation of Special Interest Groups (SIGs) academic areas namely Engineering, Computer Science and Information Systems and Computer Modelling and Material Science, Medicine, Agriculture and Education Technology. The travel grants are awarded to participants presenting papers in conferences whose proceedings are indexed by Elsevier's Scopus or Web of Science.
