The Kenya Education Network (KENET) (http://www.kenet.or.ke) is a not-for-profit membership organization that is also the National Research and Education Network (NREN) of Kenya. It builds and operates a national broadband network that interconnects member institutions and provides access to the global Internet. KENET’s mission is to catalyse the transformation of education and research in Kenya using ICT.
KENET provides broadband Internet services, ICT capacity building, and community cloud services such as web hosting, Infrastructure as a Service and Video/Web Conferencing as a Service and advanced research services to member institutions that includes all the major universities and research institutions.
KENET promotes and supports research and education collaboration in all academic areas and conducts ICT in education research in partnership with faculty and researchers drawn from member institutions.
KENET is now seeking to fill the following positions in order to fulfill its mandate:
1. Research Associate - Research Coordination and Advocacy (1 position) – Job reference No. 1001504
This part-time research position reports to the Executive Director. The key responsibility of the successful candidate shall be to coordinate and facilitate academic activities of KENET Special Interest Groups (SIGs) in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) areas. This shall include preparation of research productivity and collaboration reports for the SIGs and other stakeholders using advanced analytical tools.
The successful candidate shall be a full-time faculty member in STEM area in one of the Kenyan universities and shall have a minimum of a Master's degree although a PhD shall be an added advantage.
This position reports to the Shared Services Manager and will join the shared service technical team with the responsibility for deployment and support of shared and security services that KENET provides to member institutions.
KENET Invites suitable recent university graduates to apply to join the one-year Graduate Trainee program at KENET that aims to develop capacity in; Network Engineering, Applications Development and Accounting.
Successful candidates will undergo an intensive one-year on the job training in one of the three tracks below:

5. Graduate Trainee Accounting - (1 position) – Job reference No. 2001508
