KENET member institutions can now enjoy high-quality and faster bandwidth after KENET expanded its core network from 10 Gb/s to 40 Gb/s and 100 Gb/s. The upgrade was completed by KENET engineers using equipment supplied by Telco Systems, a leading provider of innovative network equipment solutions. The upgrade will enhance network productivity and responsiveness for KENET, meeting the needs of users in the education and research sectors.
The Core Data 2017 has been completed and the aggregated data shows the trends in total enrollment (degree and non-degree) and degree enrollment for the three academic years (October 2015, October 2016 and October 2017). The percent of Internet expenditure to total recurrent expenditure as an indicator of Internet bandwidth affordability was also highlighted.
The Annual University ICT Directors’ Forum for ICT Directors, Managers and Heads from Universities, University Colleges and Colleges took place at the Sarova Panafric Hotel this year on 21 September 2018. A total of 84 participants attended the Forum themed, ‘Sustainable, Scalable and Secure University Administrative Information Systems’ with the keynote address by Universities Funding Board (UFB) Chairman, Prof. Kinandu Muragu.
