Dr. Leah Mutanu, USIU -Africa, Top Female Researcher in Computer Science according to Scival/Scopus

In January 2016, KENET subscribed to Elsevier Scival web based research analytic tool that researchers among KENET member institutions to visualize their research performance, benchmark relative to peers, develop strategic partnerships, identify and analyze new, emerging research trends, creating uniquely tailored reports. The data gathered from Elsevier Scival is used to measure research productivity and to discover research champions in areas such Engineering, Computer Science, Material Science, Earth and Planetary Sciences and Agricultural and Biological Sciences.

KENET holds an In-Person Training for Systems Administrators

KENET conducted a five (5) in-person training for System Administrators from February 26- March 1, 2024 at the KENET Training room. The training which was attended by 26 participants from 24 institutions focused on mastering the Fundamentals of Unix/Linux administration through a practical and hands-on approach. The course covered all aspects on Linux/Unix System administration including an introduction to Linux system administration, familiarization with the Unix and Linux shell scripts, command line tools and user management.

Remote Teaching transforms learning at St. Paul's University

KENET launched the remote teaching pilot project in 2017 aiming at exploring the possibility of using the KENET web conferencing platform to reduce the cost of teaching multiple classes through remote teaching.KENET partnered with three (3) universities to pilot remote teaching classrooms reducing the need for faculty to teach multiple satellite or rural campuses of the same university.The participating universities include University of Nairobi ( 3 remote teaching classrooms at main campus, Mombasa campus and Kisumu campuses), Catholic University of Eastern Africa (2 rem

KENET holds an In-Person Training on Scalable Campus Networks and Wireless LAN Design

KENET conducted a five (5) day capacity building workshop for network/system administrators and ICT infrastructure managers from November 27- December 1, 2023 at the KENET Training room. The Scalable Campus Networks and Wireless LAN Design training was attended by 32 participants from 31 member institutions including universities, teaching hospitals, research institutions and university colleges.

KENET was granted the Building Opportunities/Leveraging Technologies (BOLT) award, a substantial $200,000 donation from the Internet Society Foundation.Aligned with the Internet Society Foundation's overarching vision that "The Internet is for everyone," the BOLT Program focuses on propelling internet development, enhancing global internet access and connectivity, and fostering responsible innovation.

Call for Proposals for Research and Innovation Grants in Educational Technologies 2023/2024

KENET has as one of its mandates, the role of catalyzing collaboration in research and education among member universities and research institutions. KENET promotes collaboration through facilitation of Special Interest Groups (SIGs) in priority academic areas, discovery of active researchers/faculty, provision of research and innovation grants to researchers and member institutions, as well as travel grants for faculty and/or graduate students in SIG areas.
