Call for Proposals for Research and Innovation Grants in Computational Modelling and Materials Science Grants 2023/2024

The Computational Modeling and Materials Science (CMMS) is a special interest group supported by KENET to enhance research capacity development in the use of computational modeling in science and technology. Research work is expected to involve university faculty and graduate students in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and the Environmental sciences but strongly welcomes those from other basic and applied sciences.

KENET Eduroam Off Campus Hostels Wifi Initiative

To enhance the learning environment at student hostels KENET is deploying off campus eduroam wifi installation at off campus hostels at JKUAT and Laikipia main campuses. KENET has set up off-campus eduroam Wi-Fi installation at private hostels at JKUAT and Laikipia University main campuses. This involves extending point-to-point links to the hostels and installing the required Wi-Fi access points.

The Annual ICT Directors Forum for Universities, Research Institutes and Teaching Hospitals was held in Naivasha on April 27-28, 2023. The One and half-day-in-person event was attended by ICT Directors from Universities, Research Institutions and Teaching Hospitals or their representatives with over 93 participants. Invited guests, KENET Management Board and staff were also in attendance.

KENET Deploys First Commercial Open Wi-Fi solution in Africa

KENET signed an agreement wiTH Atlancis Technologies Limited, Africa's first Open OEM, to deploy Africa's first true multi-vendor compatible Enterprise Wi-Fi network based on the Telecom Infra Projects's (TIP) Open Wifi solution. The deployment, delivered throupgh TIP ecosystem participnats, Actiontec, HFCL Lmited and Net Experience, is aimed at expanding the Wi-fi coverage of student learning spaces, lecturer halls and hostels in the main campusof Kenyatta University, a public research-intensive University in Nairobi, Kenya.
