The Kenya Education Network (KENET) (http://www.kenet.or.ke) is a not-for-profit membership organization that is also the National Research and Education Network (NREN) of Kenya. It builds and operates a national broadband network that interconnects member institutions and provides access to the global Internet. KENET’s mission is to catalyse the transformation of education and research in Kenya using ICT.
KENET through its Special Interest Groups (SIGs) successfully organized a One-day Education Engineering Forum. The main aim of the forum was to launch of the Baseline Survey of Engineering Departments and to disseminate the results of the Raspberry PI Student-Owned Labs for Engineering Education project. The forum was hosted at the Safari Park Hotel on 30th October 2015.
The increasing focus on issues to do with cyber-crime and network security has seen marked interest and efforts by networks and systems administrators in securing ways to realign with the shifting trends. In view of the emerging trends KENET conducted a one week cyber security training workshop from 26th to 30th October 2015.
